Overnight in Munich.

Day 3 : Munich (Full day to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof or Zugspitze)

Another day in Munich and what is in store for you today is to take a full day excursion to discover the world famous castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof, out of Munich. Hidden in the seclusion of the mountains King Ludwig II built two of his dream castles: Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. This excursion shows you two extraordinary castles, both testifying to the vision of Bavarias fairytale King. A short shopping stop is included in Oberammergau. You have an approx. 4 hours time to visit Neuschwanstein and for Lunch (meals are not included). Entrance fee for the castle to be paid on spot (approx. Eur 14.50). Another option could be to visit the Top of Germany - Zugsptize. From Munich, its only 1 1/2 hours by train to the Bavarian Alps, in particular the former Winter Olympic town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is beautiful and lively in its own right. But the real reason to come here is to get to the top of the Zugspitze, Germanys highest peak at 2,964 m. Get off the train and take a short walk to the BayerischeZugspitzbahnstation(this is a private transportation system, so rail passes dont work). Get a Zugspitze round trip ticket and take the first train to Eibsee. There youll have to choose whether to continue to the top via cable car or train. The cable car is steep, spectacular, quick, and it takes you right to the top. The train is a bit more roundabout--literally, as part of the route is a spiral tunnel inside the mountain--as it takes you to station just below the peak where you can linger or board a cable car for the last piece of the trip. The views are truly awesome and words dont do them justice. You can apparently see five different countries on a clear day. Also if you get time why not take a stroll round the Eibseelake nearby after youve taken the hair raising cable car back down from the summit. A full day is recommended for experience this wonderful mountain & its surroundings Overnight in Munich

Day 4 : Munich (Full day to Lake Chiemsee or Romantic Road)

Today you can opt to visit the beautiful lake Chiemsee. And visit the famous Herrenchiemsee Castle and Museum. Ftrom Munich you take the train to Prien which is about 1.5hrs by train and then take a 10 minutes boat ride to the island on which the castle is located. Lake Chiemsee is Bavarias biggest lake, also known as the Bavarian Sea. The Herreninsel, Fraueninsel and Krautinsel islands lie close together in the calm waters. This composition, with its colours and lighting, almost looks too perfect. At 2.4 square kilometres, Herrenchiemsee is the largest of the islands, and is famous for the castle built there by Bavarias fairytale King Ludwig II to surpass Versailles. You can take a scenic walk or carriage ride through the park you reach the impressive palace take a local tour and discover what happens if a king runs out of money half-way through. Theres a charming little Romanesque church affiliated to a small convent on Fraueninsel, and some of the best Bavarian restaurants. Other than a day trip to Lake Chiemsee another option is to take a guided coach tour along the Romantic Road with stops at Rothenburg & Harburg. Your first stop is Harburg, one of the oldest, largest and best preserved castles of Southern Germany. It was an important military stronghold during the 11th and 12th centuries. Through the Swabian crater landscape passing Dinkelsbuhl, you will arrive in Rothenburg, the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe. You will spend about 3 hours in Rothenburg, so there is plenty of time for sightseeing, lunch and shopping. A popular attraction is the Kathe Wolhfahrt Christmas Store on Herrngasse, a large store open year round where you can purchase ornaments, nutcrackers, and other Christmas items. Many of the highlights in Rothenburg are centered around Marktplatz, such as the Town Hall with its Rothenburg History Museum, and St Jakobs Church, a Gothic building with soaring ceilings filled with light. You will return to Munich via the Hallertau, the worlds largest hop-growing area. Overnight in Munich
