Day 01 : Arrival in Ahmedabad
Welcome to Ahmedabad, the vibrant cultural heart of Gujarat and India's first UNESCO World Heritage City. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore nearby attractions such as the serene Sabarmati Ashram, the tranquil retreat of Mahatma Gandhi, or take a heritage walk through the Old City to witness the architectural beauty of havelis, pols (narrow lanes), and centuries-old mosques. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
Day 02 : Ahmedabad – Lothal – Ahmedabad (78 kms / approx. 2 hours one way)
After breakfast, embark on a fascinating day trip to Lothal, one of the prominent cities of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, dating back over 4,000 years. Explore the Lothal Archaeological Site, including the world’s earliest known dockyard, a well-planned city layout, and the museum housing rare artifacts of the Harappan culture. Return to Ahmedabad by evening. En route, you may visit the Adalaj Stepwell, an intricately carved, five-story deep stepwell known for its architectural grandeur. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
Day 03 : Ahmedabad – Little Rann of Kutch (166 kms / approx. 5 hours)
Post breakfast, drive towards the Little Rann of Kutch, a unique landscape famous for being the habitat of the endangered Indian Wild Ass and a wide variety of migratory birds. On arrival, check into a wildlife resort. In the evening, enjoy a jeep safari in the Wild Ass Sanctuary, where you can witness the stark beauty of the saline desert and spot various species of wildlife and birds. Return to the resort for overnight stay.
Day 04 : Little Rann of Kutch – Dholavira (210 kms / approx. 5 hours)
Today you travel deeper into history and geography as you drive to Dholavira, one of the most remarkable and well-preserved sites of the Harappan Civilization. Set on the island of Khadir in the Great Rann of Kutch, this archaeological marvel offers insights into the sophisticated planning and water management systems of ancient times. Explore the extensive Dholavira ruins, and take time to admire the stark beauty of the Rann of Kutch landscape, especially during sunset. Overnight stay at Dholavira.
Day 05 : Dholavira – Patan (236 kms / approx. 5 hours)
After breakfast, depart for Patan, a city steeped in architectural and cultural glory. En route, witness rural Gujarat unfold in its raw charm. On arrival in Patan, check into your hotel and relax. If time permits, begin exploring the local heritage sites. Overnight stay in Patan.
Day 06 : Patan Sightseeing
Begin your day with a visit to the Rani ki Vav, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most stunning stepwells, known for its intricate carvings and historical significance. Continue to the Sahasralinga Talav, a medieval artificial water tank. Later, visit the Patola Weaving Centre to witness the traditional double ikat silk weaving technique for which Patan is famous worldwide. Explore local markets for souvenirs. Overnight stay in Patan.
Day 07 : Patan – Vadodara (238 kms / approx. 5 hours)
Today, drive to Vadodara, the cultural capital of Gujarat. On arrival, check in at your hotel. In the evening, explore Laxmi Vilas Palace, an extravagant royal residence larger than Buckingham Palace, known for its Indo-Saracenic architecture and European-style interiors. You can also enjoy a serene walk in Sayaji Garden. Overnight stay in Vadodara.
Day 08 : Vadodara – Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park (50 kms / approx. 1 hour one way)
After breakfast, set out for a day excursion to the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled at the foothills of the Pavagadh hills. This site features a blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture, including Jami Masjid, ancient stepwells, and fortifications dating back to the 8th to 14th centuries. Take a cable car ride up to the Kalikamata Temple, offering panoramic views. Return to Vadodara by evening. Overnight stay in Vadodara.
Day 09 : Vadodara – Ahmedabad (111 kms / approx. 2 hours)
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Ahmedabad. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time to visit the Calico Museum of Textiles, known for its exquisite collection of fabrics, or indulge in some last-minute shopping at Law Garden Night Market or Manek Chowk. Transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey with beautiful memories of Gujarat’s rich history and vibrant culture.
